A dark ceramic chawan of freshly whisked organic Kirishima matcha

Kagoshima Matcha · Kirishima, Japan

Grown where nothing
was supposed to grow.

JAS-certified organic matcha from Kirishima's volcanic soil — rooted in Kagoshima family history, made for America.

Coffee gives you the caffeine. Matcha gives you the caffeine — and the L-theanine.

A moderate dose of caffeine, alongside an amino acid coffee doesn't have. The result some people describe as a steadier kind of alertness.

Chapter One · Satsuma

From the domain
that chose to change.

Sakurajima volcano at dawn above Kagoshima tea fields

Sakurajima — 30,000 years of ash into soil.

In 1863 the Satsuma domain lost a war against British warships. Instead of digging in, it adapted — secretly sending young students abroad to learn from the people who beat them.

Ninety miles south, the Sakurajima volcano has spent 30,000 years turning its own ash into soil nothing was supposed to grow in — until generations of patience turned volcanic wasteland into tea fields.

We didn't find Kagoshima on a sourcing map. Our founder's mother is from here, so the place came first and the brand came after. Living in America is what made the distance visible: Japanese matcha was everywhere, and Kagoshima was nowhere on the label.

"We didn't inherit a tradition.
We earned our way into one."

The origin

Kagoshima wasn't chosen
from a sourcing map.

It was already part of the family — and living in America made it obvious how little of this origin ever reaches the cup here.

Chapter Two · The Leaf

You drink the whole leaf.
So where it's grown
is the whole product.

With matcha you don't steep and discard — you drink the entire ground leaf. That's what makes it rich in EGCG and L-theanine, and it's why sourcing matters more than in any other tea.

We source from Kagoshima, which holds Japan's largest share of certified-organic tea acreage, on the fast-draining volcanic soil that Sakurajima built. Clean ground and healthy roots aren't a story here — they're the point.
